‘7 Rings’ – ‘My Favourite Things’

An iconic sound of the 2010s in its own right, ‘7 Rings’ by Ariana Grande uses the same original melody heard in My Favourite Things’, a song featured in the 1965 Musical film The Sound Of Music. The American pop-sensation turned the musical number into a chart topper, regenerating what was once a happy-go-lucky tune into a sassy girl power number. And people loved it.

Marcio Delgado, Digital Consultant and Producer, said “As someone working with content and creators, it is very refreshing to listen to a new version of a song you are familiar with. The secret is to avoid comparisons and enjoy both for their different musical approach.”

Owing so much to the original, Ariana Grande pays 90% of revenue from the song in music royalties to Rodgers and Hammerstein, writers of The Sound Of Music. The famous duo are even listed on the writing credits.
