Album: Konnichiwa

Artist: Skepta

Released: May 6

In terms of cultural impact, has a British album landed harder Konnichiwa this year? Well, maybe Blackstar, but still, Konnichiwa was undeniably huge. Your parents probably have a vague idea of who Skepta is now. He won the Mercury Prize, he’s going to be on the Christmas Top of the Pops; He’s everywhere, and all without compromising his sound as he may have done with earlier shots at chart success like Rescue Me. He’s paved the way for 2017 to be even bigger for grime and with Stormzy, the only MC arguably on a level with Skepta in terms of pop culture awareness, due for an album drop, it’s going to be huge.
