Ubisoft has released Title Update 1.0.5 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, introducing a series of new features, content collaborations, gameplay refinements, and a wide range of technical fixes across all platforms. The update went live today at 2 PM UTC (10 AM EDT/7 AM PT), with patch sizes varying significantly, ranging from approximately 3.31 GB on PlayStation 5 to 19 GB on Xbox Series X|S.

New Quest Unlocked: “Thrown to the Dogs”

The update unlocks “Thrown to the Dogs”, a previously pre-order-exclusive bonus mission, now accessible to all players. The quest becomes available early in Assassin’s Creed Shadows after completing “From Spark to Flame” and can be initiated near Osaka at Tennoji Temple. Upon completion, players can unlock and recruit Tsuki-maru as a pet in their Hideout.

Dead by Daylight Crossover

A limited-time crossover event with Dead by Daylight is now live, accessible after Yasuke is unlocked as a playable character. The event introduces supernatural elements to the narrative and rewards players with themed cosmetics, including a new mount (Maurice), a banner, and a free trinket. An additional cosmetic pack inspired by Dead by Daylight is also available in the in-game store, offering character outfits, weapons, and accessories.

Parkour System Enhancements

In response to community feedback, Title Update 1.0.5 introduces significant refinements to parkour mechanics, enhancing responsiveness and traversal flow. Key additions include:

  • Vertical Jump Mechanic: Characters can now leap directly to overhead ledges, awnings or overhangs without requiring a wall run.
  • Sprint Toggle Lock: Sprinting now remains active during Parkour Up/Down sequences when directional input is maintained.
  • Eject Improvements: Back and side ejects feature increased reach and updated animations, with notable enhancements for Naoe.

Photo Mode Expanded

Assassin’s Creed’s Photo Mode receives its most extensive overhaul to date, along with additional features. Players can now:

  • Change time of day
  • Modify character poses and facial expressions
  • Toggle headgear visibility
  • Add background music while editing
  • Apply stickers, frames, and filters
  • Save custom presets
  • Modify camera speed and movement settings
  • Use fullscreen mode (PC only)

These enhancements are designed to enable more in-depth visual storytelling, detailed environmental captures, and community sharing.

Balatro Collaboration

New items themed after Balatro have been added. Naoe receives a unique trinket, while Yasuke gains the “Winning Hand” amulet, both featuring legendary perks capable of inflicting random affliction effects at the end of combo attacks.

Bug Fixes, Optimisations, and System Improvements

Title Update 1.0.5 resolves several gameplay and technical issues, addressing player-reported bugs and improving systems and platforms across the board. Key fixes include:

  • Progression Bug Resolved: Addressed a major issue where save files incorrectly loaded at level 60, interrupting natural game progression.
  • Quest Fixes: Multiple questlines, including Vision of Realms, The League, and Diary of Lady Rokkaku, now function as intended, with blockers and inconsistent outcomes resolved. Romance storylines have also been stabilised to ensure consistent progression across character arcs.
  • Notification Glitch: Fixed a persistent bug where “New Item” notifications remained active indefinitely.
  • Animation and Camera Adjustments: Refinements have been made to climbing, assassinations, stealth kills, and character switching to ensure smoother transitions and more accurate animations.
  • Visual Fixes: Scaling issues affecting mounts and certain NPCs have been corrected.
  • Economy Tuning: The in-game currency (Mon) economy has been rebalanced, with changes to vendor pricing and contract rewards to incentivize exploration and contract completion.
  • AI Tweaks: Enemy dueling behavior has been adjusted for more consistent difficulty, and AI pathfinding has been improved in tight or crowded environments.
  • Xbox Series X|S: Balanced Performance Mode, previously unavailable, has been enabled. A bug affecting Photo Mode interface responsiveness has been fixed.
