With the launch of new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK just days away here is everything you need to know before tuning in to the first episode airing on BBC iPlayer this Thursday at 7pm.
Following on from the very successful first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, which saw The Vivienne snatch the crown, season two promises to be the perfect antidote to lockdown boredom. The new cast include a mix of dancers, actors, comedians, look queens and fashion girls, each looking to take the crown and assume their place in the Drag Race hall of fame.
Drag Race fans will be spoilt for entertainment as the UK season will air alongside season thirteen of the US version which has already started on Netflix, but it is unclear whether the twists and turns of the US version will be replicated for the UK queens. The official trailer dropped just over a week ago and gave us our first glimpse of the twelve new Ru girls, so if you haven’t already, get yourself a TV license and strap in for the fierce new series.
Check out the next few pages for a little insight into the queens about to strut into the workroom for the first time.
26 year-old London-based Tayce is a Welsh queen who’s come to knock the socks off the competition. She is the second Welsh queen to compete in the competition, the previous Welsh queen, The Vivienne, went on to win the show.
Tayce lives in London with fellow season two queen A’Whora. This 26 year-old fashion queen is a Northern beauty now based in London. A self confessed look queen A’Whora decided to use herself as the mannequin for her fierce looks, she will be one to watch out for in the ball challenges.
Joe Black is the first Brighton queen to grace the runway, which will be in keeping with Joe’s ‘haunted glamour’ couture. Hailing from the world of burlesque and cabaret Joe has been doing drag for thirteen years and is certainly the musical one of the season.
