Operation Mincemeat A New Musical which has just started its West End run at the Fortune Theatre, is set to release an original cast recording in May, Sony Music has announced. The cast recording is due to be dropped on 12 May, following the show’s press nights on 9 and 10 May respectively. The album will be released on digital, streaming, CD and vinyl and is available to pre-order now.

Operation Mincemeat is based on the true story of an Allied plot to fool Hitler using a corpse planted with falsified invasion plans to disguise the 1943 Allied invasion of Sicily, and convince the Nazis that the Allies intended to invade Greece and Sardinia instead.

The cast recording is produced by Grammy Award winning and Tony and Olivier Award nominated Steve Sidwell and will feature the original West End cast: David Cumming, Claire-Marie Hall, Natasha Hodgson, Jak Malone and Zoë Roberts, alongside an in-house band.

Operation Mincemeat is written and composed by Cumming, Hodgson and Roberts, alongside Felix Hagan who form the group SpitLip.

The current West End transfer of Operation Mincemeat follows several previous sold-out runs at The New Diorama Theatre in 2019, Southwark Playhouse in 2020, 2021 & 2022 and Riverside Studios in 2022.

Alongside the album announcement, a new track from the album, ‘Sail On Boys’ has been released. This is the second of four songs voted on by fans to be released prior to the album launch, with the first track being, ‘God That’s Brilliant’. Two additional fan favourites, ‘All The Ladies’ and ‘Das Übermensch’ will be released soon.

Operation Mincemeat is running at the Fortune Theatre until 9 July.
