Margot Robbie has already secured her reputation as a film chameleon. From her sultry drawl in The Wolf of Wall Street, to her Harley Quinn role – mimicked in Halloween costumes everywhere in 2016 – and her Oscar-nominated portrayal of Tonya Harding, she’s able to transform herself in a variety of roles. As well as Mary Queen of Scots, one of her next ventures is Tarantino’s hotly anticipated Once Upon A Time In Hollywood – and the first image of her as actress and model Sharon Tate has just been revealed.

Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate

Sharon Tate, who was murdered on this day in 1969 at the hands of the Manson Family, was married to Roman Polanski, who has now been a fugitive from the U.S. for forty years, having fled the country while awaiting sentencing after he pleaded guilty to statutory rape of a minor.

It’s unsurprising that Tarantino was intrigued by Tate’s tragic story, having employed gore and blood in the majority of his directorial backlog. The script was originally reported as focusing on the murder of Tate, but Tarantino has said it actually centers more on the year 1969 instead.

Of Tarantino’s on-set enthusiasm, Robbie said: “He’s like a kid in a candy shop on set. It makes everyone else really excited and it reminds you to be so grateful that you’re there.”

A lot of excitement is also set on Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt sharing a screen for the first time. However, if Tarantino follows the same promotion pattern as The Hateful Eight, we won’t be seeing a trailer until at least February 2019.

One Upon A Time In Hollywood is set to be released on 26 July 2019.
