Single Review: Bad Believer // St. Vincent

St. Vincent’s transition from the sparkling indie pop of Marry Me to the distorted art rock of her 2014 self-titled album has been absolutely effortless. Her latest single from her repackaged album – titled ‘Bad Believer’ – merely adds to her repertoire of ever growing hits and modern classics. ‘Bad Believer’ is an upbeat and infectious glam rock number, perhaps the catchiest song that Annie Clark has ever made.

This song is traditional Clark, consisting of unorthodox, experimental guitar techniques and fuzzy percussion that are fast becoming her trademark. The song kicks straight off with an electronic beat, and submerges the listener into the chorus of “what do you know / I’m just a bad believer.” This track is perhaps more radio friendly than the songs featured on her critically acclaimed 2014 album, but it is still glorious nonetheless.
