In 2008 the boys gave us the masterpiece which was radio:ACTIVE. This album included hits such as ‘Lies’, ‘Do Ya’ and ‘One For the Radio’. It was such a great album that I can forgive the lads for giving out copies with The Mail on Sunday. The music had more of a rock vibe, with the band saying they were tired of being a ‘boyband’.
This was a bold statement considering the success being a ‘boyband’ had brought them so far. McFly left their label and started their own: one where they could be themselves. As a young teenager at this point, I liked that McFly were reinventing themselves. I was excited for a new sound, something different from the songs I liked when I was 8. If McFly had an edge now, so did I.
