The Last of Us Part I has seen a sales increase of over 200% following the premiere of the HBO television adaption.

According to a report from GamesIndustry.biz, the 2022 release has re-entered the UK Boxed Charts at no. 20 following a week-on-week spike in popularity. Similarly, in the PlayStation4 Boxed Charts, The Last of Us Remastered (released one year after the original in 2014), also re-entered the charts with a spike of 322%.

The acclaimed television adaption was released in the US on January 15 2023. It follows the same storyline as its source material, starring Pedro Pascal as Joel, a hardened smuggler navigating a post-apocalyptic United States. Bella Ramsey portrays Joel’s escortee Ellie, who exhibits symptoms of resistance against an infection that has ravaged the nation.

The Last of Us Part I, a remake of its 2013 namesake, was released for PS5 in September 2022. It became the fifth best-selling game in the United States upon its release, losing out to sports-centred giants such as FIFA 23 and Madden NFL 23. In the UK, the release topped the weekly physical sales chart on its opening weekend.

It is due to become the franchise’s first Windows release in March 2023, which will coincide with the series finale of the television adaption.
