Indie giants The Libertines have announced they will be playing an intimate gig at Brixton’s O2 Academy next month, in aid of drummer Gary Powell’s cause Unity Rocks. All proceeds from this gig will go straight to UK charity Hope Not Hate.

Famed for their mental intimate shows, the tempestuous quartet are due to play the >5,000 capacity venue on Wednesday 7th September. Support for this show comes from newcomer Rat Boy.

The news of this show follows The Libs’ secret gig at North London boozer The Boogaloo a little over a fortnight ago, for which a tenner was charged on the door.

As has become synonymous with Libertines gigs of recent, this is a show that will no doubt be filled with surprises, particularly as more acts are yet to be added to this indie-dream of a line-up.

Following a speedy sell-out in an unexpected presale yesterday morning, general sale for this show in the capital will commence Monday 8th August from 9am here.

Make sure you’re following Unity Rocks on Facebook & Twitter as further charity gigs are set to be announced in the near future.
