Three years after the last collection of new music from The Strokes (Comedown Machine in 2013) and the band have announced the release of their new EP ‘Future Past Present’ and consists of three new songs ‘Oblivius’, ‘Drag Queen’ and ‘Threat of Joy’ (plus a remix of Oblivius by Fab Moretti).

In the past three years all band members have been doing their own solo projects. From their solo albums ‘Momentary Masters’ and ‘Tyranny’ to creation of new bands such as Little Joy and Summer Moon and the work with other artists from Sia to Regina Spektor

‘Oblivious’ was debuted on Julian Casablancas’ radio station, ‘Drag Queen’ on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show and ‘Threat Of Joy’ was premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show.

The Strokes have also announced a new gig at The Capitol Theatre in New York on May 31 in addition to their festival dates.

These side projects seem essential as it has given the band an area to grow musically and then come back to The Strokes and grow that area of music together and bringing different influences they have found. The new tracks are strong songs from The Strokes, calling upon their unique style as a band but also seeming much more confident in themselves than in the last album. With strong vocals from Casablancas and laden with their signature guitar riffs.

The EP ‘Future Present Past’ release comes as Casablancas relaunches his label Cult Records.

It will be available from the 3/6/16 and you can preorder it here.
