It seemed rather fitting that this track was released on 1st May, just a few weeks after lockdown started. ‘Introspective’ was made before the COVID-19 lockdown started and is about the importance of self-care for individuals. Produced by Chris Lorenzo, the song has a drum ‘n’ bass beat behind the strong and meaningful lyrics of Bru-C.
The pair have looked to show that the starting point to happiness is being happy within yourself. The lyric “make time for yourself” is echoed throughout the song.
Lorenzo’s beat goes well with the powerful self-love message of the lyrics. He has produced what is a slower and more relaxed beat than what fans are used to, such as ‘Take Me as I Am’ or ‘Hey Pablo’, but it matches the lyrics and the feel of the song perfectly.
Proceeds from the songs iTunes pre-sale were donated to the charity Campaign Against Living Miserably, a leading movement against suicide. Bru-C is often vocal on social media about the importance of caring for your mental health. In a recent post, the MC invited his Instagram followers to join him on a jog in his home town of Nottingham.
