Track Review: Spend the Night // ROMES

Having formed in early 2015, ROMES have fought their way out of the dark and into the limelight in a very short stretch of time. Spend the Night’, taken from their Believe EP, begins with airy vocals against a heavy drum beat before quickly launching into something far more solid, a happy marriage of guitar and synth; the lyrics are simple which draws focus to the catchy combination of instruments.

Classing themselves as a mixture of soul and alt-pop, ROMES have produced an upbeat, easy-to-listen-to track, which could be described as ‘Foals meets The 1975’. The quartet, based in Toronto, Canada, whilst just finding their balance in the music industry, have most definitely put their best foot forward with their 4-track EP, and we will hopefully get to see and hear a lot more from them in the near future. ‘Spend the Night’ is set to be a surefire favorite track for the summer.
