After an achingly long wait, fans of Netflix’s Australian teen drama Heartbreak High can breathe a sigh of relief. The streaming giant has announced that the third and final season will be released on 25 March 2026.
The announcement was made during Netflix’s latest What’s Next event. The cast debuted the season three trailer on TikTok live on 17 February.

The reboot of a classic Australian teen drama follows Amerie (Ayesha Madon) and her network of high school friends grappling more with the messiness of relationships and identity and less about actual school. With rich sets, eye-catching costume design and heartfelt performances, it really is great fun. The show also stars James Majoos, Chloe Hayden, Asher Yasbincek, Thomas Weatherall, Will McDonald, Gemma Chua-Tran, Bryn Chapman Parish, Sherry-Lee Watson, Brodie Townsend, Rachel House, Chika Ikogwe, Kartanya Maynard, Aki Munroe, Ioane Sa’ula, Ben Turland and William McKenna.
Season two, which aired two years ago, ended with lead character Amerie heartbroken after her on-again-off-again love interest Malakai (Thomas Weatherall) left Australia for Switzerland with his family. Malakai left Amerie a love letter that she never read. It was destroyed following a bonkers situation with an arsonist classmate with whom they were both romantically entangled. Fan favourite couple Darren (played by the delightful James Majoos) and Ca$h (Will McDonald) ended the season proceeding with their relationship despite ongoing woes about allosexual/asexual incompatibility. We also left Harper (Asher Yasbincek) in a much better place, receiving some justice for her assault and developing a sweet bond with himbo sweetheart Ant (Brodie Townsend).
This season follows the gang’s final high school year. When a revenge prank goes horribly wrong, Amerie and her friends must cover up their secret or risk losing everything. Production began in Sydney on November 4, 2024 and wrapped on February 6, 2025.
Netflix announced in May 2024 that the show had been renewed for a final season. And as Heartbreak High is one of the streamer’s gems, it will be sorely missed by fans whe the finale airs.
