FX has officially renewed Emmy-winning series The Bear for a fifth season, just days after the launch of its highly anticipated fourth season on June 25. The next installment of the critically acclaimed series is expected to debut in 2026 on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.
The renewal announcement builds on the momentum of one of television’s most decorated comedies. While FX has not released official viewership numbers for season four, the network cited “incredibly high viewership” and the show’s consistently strong creative direction as key reasons behind the decision. FX chairman John Landgraf praised the series’ ongoing success, calling it “one of the best shows on television.” He added, “Year-in and year-out, Chris Storer, the producers, cast and crew make The Bear one of the best shows on television, and we are excited that they will continue to tell this magnificent story.”
Created by Christopher Storer, The Bear follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), and Richie Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they navigate the high-stakes chaos of Chicago’s fine-dining scene. Season four, filmed back-to-back with season three, continues their uphill climb as they battle time, finances, shifting dynamics and the emotional weight of ambition in an effort to keep their restaurant alive and chase culinary excellence. The latest season holds an 85% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Since its debut, The Bear has received widespread acclaim across the industry. The show made history in 2024 by winning 11 Emmy Awards for its second season—the most ever for a comedy series in a single year—and has also been recognised by the Golden Globes, SAG, WGA, and the Peabody Awards. It has also been named an AFI Television Program of the Year for three consecutive seasons.
The ensemble cast includes Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson, with recurring appearances from Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon. Behind the scenes, the series is executive produced by Storer alongside Joanna Calo, Josh Senior, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson, Hiro Murai, and Rene Gube. Courtney Storer serves as co-executive producer and culinary producer, lending authenticity to the show’s dynamic kitchen scenes.
All four seasons of The Bear are now streaming on Hulu, with season five set to continue the show’s rise as one of television’s defining titles.
