Prime Video has released the official trailer for Gen V season two, and it’s clear that the blood-soaked chaos at Godolkin University is far from over. A spin-off of the hit series The Boys, Gen V follows young superheroes-in-training at the prestigious, Vought-run college where corruption and power games run rampant. Season one ended with a deadly showdown and the main cast either imprisoned or on the run, setting the stage for a much darker subsequent season.
The initial teaser, released two months ago, introduced Hamish Linklater as Dean Cipher, a chilling new antagonist who has taken over Godolkin. He welcomed blood-bending supe Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) back to the University for mysterious reasons. Now, in this official trailer, it is revealed that, far from the glossy PR of season one, Cipher’s vision for the students is militarised and brutal. “You are no longer students. You are soldiers,” he growls, presiding over what appears to be a ruthless The Hunger Games-style training program.
Standing up to Ciper’s tyranny with Marie are Jordan Li (London Thor and Derek Luh), and Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway) and they are shown as ready to fight. Marie, now the group’s reluctant leader, rallies her classmates to launch a bloody rebellion from inside Godolkin itself: “Whatever we do, we do it together.”
Clearly, season two is about to push the franchise into even more unhinged territory. Nearly every frame is splattered with the trademark blood, guts, and gore of Prime Video’s brutally violent superhero world.
The trailer also leans into cameo treats for fans. In a major crossover twist, Erin Moriaty’s Starlight appears heavily, rescuing Marie from a vicious Wolverine-like supe. She later persuades the latter to return to Godolkin, suggesting a budding, if not potentially brief mentor-student relationship.
If this is the fugitive Annie, from The Boys season four cliffhanger, it raises questions if the events in Gen V season two will directly affect the primary show’s upcoming fifth and final season (airing in 2026). Also making appearances are Chace Crawford’s The Deep and Black Noir 2.0, further blurring the lines between the two shows. This leaves speculation as to whether Anthony Starr’s Homelander will make another surprise appearance, as in the last season.
One poignant moment in the trailer shows Marie looking solemnly at a file featuring Andre Anderson, the character played by the late Chance Perdomo. The beloved actor tragically passed away early last year, and the brief scene may be the first of several tributes planned for him this season.
Gen V season one is currently available to watch on Prime Video. Season two is set for September 17. This action-heavy trailer promises that the fight for Godolkin, and perhaps the soul of Vought itself, is only just beginning.
