Dearest gentle reader, Bridgerton season four is in full swing, and with the release of the season’s second part on the 26 February fast approaching, a new teaser trailer has given fans a glimpse of what it has to offer.
Based on An Offer from a Gentleman, the third book in Julia Quinn’s regency romance series, the first half of season four saw Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) searching for his elusive ‘Lady in Silver’, all the while becoming more and more captivated by Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), the lady’s maid to his two younger sisters.
As the ‘Lady in Silver’ seemed to slip further out of reach, Sophie became the object of Benedict’s desire. Though the two women are one in the same, he is yet to catch on.
Seemingly separated by the class divide, the season’s leads agreed to go their separate ways, but the tension between love and duty lead to a somewhat misjudged offer on Benedict’s part during the final moments of episode four, which is where we left them.
Ahead of part two, Netflix has released a new 45-second teaser. Featuring only Benedict and Sophie, the clip shows them bathed in golden light. A filled copper bath takes centre stage as a fire roars in the background. Hazy close-ups of the pair’s hands and eyes hint at what the rest of the season has in store. As is Bridgerton tradition, the clip is steamy in more ways than one.
Viewers were also treated to another short trailer for the episodes ahead at the end of episode four. In amongst a whole lot more angst from this season’s leads, fans can also expect to celebrate the return of the head of the family, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), and his much-loved wife, Kate (Simone Ashley).
However, the trailer also featured a glimpse of matriarch Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) in sombre black attire, hinting that a tragedy will befall the Ton. Though readers of the book may have an idea of what’s to come, the Netflix series is not above switching things up, so the specifics of the upcoming storyline is anybody’s guess.
Despite the wait, these trailers are keeping the excitement alive, promising lots to look forward to in the world of Bridgerton.
