Disney+ has unveiled a brand-new trailer for the second season of hit historical drama The Artful Dodger ahead of its highly anticipated comeback in 2026.

Created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor, the Victorian era comedy drama, loosely inspired by Charles Dickens’ world-famous 1838 novel Oliver Twist, imagines what happened to Dickens’ characters after Oliver found his happily ever after. The show follows pickpocket-turned-doctor Jack Dawkins, best known by his former alias The Artful Dodger, (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) as he navigates life in 1850s Australia.

The first season saw infamous thief Fagin (David Thewlis) dramatically re-enter Jack’s life and overturn his newfound existence, tempting him to return to his old, criminal ways. Jack forms a close bond with the strong-willed, ambitious Lady Belle Fox (Maia Mitchell) who trains under his supervision and wishes to become Australia’s first female surgeon.

The new action-packed trailer promises more high-stakes conflict, drama and romance as Jack fights to avoid the gallows and secure his freedom after his arrest and imprisonment at the end of season one. Jack and Belle’s forbidden, cross-class romance is under threat as the pair are blackmailed into keeping their distance by Belle’s disapproving family. With a murderer on the loose, Fagin plotting his next heist and Belle’s family work to find Belle a husband, Jack’s future looks more uncertain than ever as he must choose between his freedom and his found family.

Returning cast include Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Dr Jack Dawins The Artful Dodger, David Thewlis as Norbert Fagin, Maia Mitchell as Lady Belle Fox, Susie Porter as Lady Jane Fox and Tim Minchin as Darius Crackworth.

Three new cast members are joining the show’s second season: Luke Bracey as Inspector Henry Boxer, Jeremy Sims as Uncle Dickie and Zac Burge as Phineas Golden.

All episodes of The Artful Dodger will be available to stream on Disney+ on 10 February.
