With a seemingly unlimited number of rising acts to choose from, it can seem impossible to decide who to listen to next. Here at The Indiependent, we make that choice a little bit easier for you, with our Ones To Watch For 2026.
Sofia Isella
Key Track: ‘Hot Gum’
For Fans Of: Billie Eilish, Paris Paloma, Fiona Apple
Lana Williams
Sofia Isella’s imagery is equal parts unique, terrifying, and completely entrancing. Instead of riding the wave of mainstream pop, glitter-soaked and scantily clad, Isella is giving a platform to socio-political issues (‘The Doll People’), while donning ripped shirts and being encrusted in dirt. Championing dark pop and intentionally intense choruses, Isella won’t remain under the radar for long.

Eli
Key Track: ‘Somebody I’m Not’
For Fans Of: Chappell Roan, Ariana Grande, Kesha
Ben Oxley
If you haven’t already been blessed by Eli’s angelic falsetto on your TikTok For You Page, it is only a matter of time before you do. Her experiences as a trans woman are powerfully expressed in her discography through maximalist, referential pop. Eli’s debut album, Stage Girl, revolves around a camp aesthetic inspired by American Idol, where she presents herself as the next pop superstar. And that she is.
Permanent (Joy)
Key Track: ‘Role Models’
For Fans Of: The Royston Club, Overpass, The Royston Club, Radiohead
George Connell
Permanent (Joy) are a shining light amongst the ever-growing plethora of new indie rock bands in the UK, offering a more unique, heavy take on the usual jangle of modern indie music. With an artsy attitude and brash vocals, the Scouse outfit has spent the last two years building a devoted following. Offering lilting vocals inspired by The Cure and the grungey guitars of Radiohead, there is no doubt Permanent (Joy) are due for big-time recognition.
Chloe Slater
Key Track: ‘24 Hours’
For Fans of: Paris Paloma, Nell Mescal, Alessi Rose.
Victoria Ruck
Chloe Slater’s discography has been solidified as an outlet for both political and personal expression, soundtracked to indie rock. From criticising irresponsible landlords (‘Death Trap’) to stories of heartbreak (‘Harriet’), her music’s earnest relatability is soon to make further revolutionary waves across the alternative scene.
Opus Kink
Key Track: ‘I Love You, Baby’
For Fans of: IDLES, Enola Gay, DEADLETTER
Victoria Ruck
Opus Kink are on a steady path to domination of the punk scene. Following a successful London gig in October, ahead of their pending 2026 debut album, they are sure to end up in high rankings. Their weighty repertoire of goth-jazz-heavy tracks points to them as one of the most exciting growing groups on the scene.
Avery Cochrane
Key Track: ‘Shapeshifting on a Saturday Night’
For Fans Of: Chappell Roan, Renee Rapp, Suki Waterhouse
Avery Cochrane is an alternative pop riser who captured our hearts this year with her breakout single ‘Shapeshifting on a Saturday Night’. The artist is quickly becoming one to watch due to her evocative storytelling, songwriting, and addictive sing-along worthy choruses. She has a compelling ability to turn an ordinary moment into something charged, poetic, and unforgettable. With a fearless approach to blending genres and a magnetic stage presence, Avery continues to push boundaries and leave a lasting impression on everyone who experiences her music.
