Assassin’s Creed Shadows released its 1.1.1 update on 11 September 2025. This update saw a myriad of patches, fixes, and new content. Players can now reach up to level 100, change the time of day, and play a brand new quest.
In addition, Ubisoft has added the new ‘Project Sanctuary’ in the Animus Hub. Projects have been part of the game since the beginning and are opportunities to gain new gear and perks through completing quests and collecting keys or data shards. Projects change often with new missions and rewards, and this time around players who collect enough data shards will be rewarded with the iconic Ezio Outfit.
The beloved character from Assassin’s Creed II and its sequels had a memorable look which has cropped up in subsequent AC games as ‘Legacy outfit’ options. This time, however, people have taken to social media to express their dismay at how much effort is needed in-game to acquire Ezio’s robes.
On X, one fan wrote that they were excited at the prospect of obtaining a new Ezio outfit, only to be disappointed to find it ‘locked behind an Animus Project at Max Level’.
Other players flocked to the post’s replies to debate whether the grind to get the Legacy outfit was fair or worthwhile. The overarching argument is that fans are usually happy to grind, but Legacy outfits have always been easily available for players. Others decided that they were fine with working for the outfit, but to have it so far into the Project is unfair and difficult for some to achieve.
Players on TikTok have expressed this in the comment section of the official Ubisoft post for the update. One wrote, ‘hate the fact that this is a data shard grind rather than a straight purchase.’ Although, others are grateful that the outfit is not behind a paywall, and has saved them some extra cash.
Alternatively, some players are happy to see the return of Legacy outfits and hope to see more in the future, regardless of whether they take a lot of effort or not. Some reminded others that the Projects do not have a time limit, and the rewards can be accessed indefinitely once the requirements are met.
Further information on the update is available in the patch notes. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
