Only Murders in the Building is back for season four – an announcement that came the day of the finale of the most recent season. The hit murder mystery series, which is reminiscent of the cosy novels from the likes of Agatha Christie, debuted back in 2021. It was an instant hit on Hulu and Disney+.

The show is well known for its A-List cast; with cinema legends Steve Martin and Martin Short leading the show, alongside Disney Channel star and singer, Selena Gomez. Season three introduced Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep into the cast, and as casting announcements begin for the anticipated fourth season, it is obvious that this theme has not shifted.

The first of these announcements revealed Eugene Levy our suspect list. Whether you know him best as Jim’s dad in American Pie, or as Johnny Rose in Netflix’s sitcom Schitt’s Creek, Levy’s comedy and talent has set the expectations high for this era of the show.

It’s not the first time Levy, Martin and Short have worked together. In fact, the three of them collaborated on 1991’s Father of the Bride and its 1996 sequel. In this nineties hit, Martin and Short starred in their most iconic roles, so it will be exciting to see the three of them on screen together once again.

The second actor to join the cast this year is comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani, who played Dinesh in the HBO series Silicon Valley and Kingo in Marvel’s Eternals. The casting this season seems to focus on comedy, suggesting that Only Murders in the Building is going to home in on its silly nature even more this season, a feat that will be difficult as season three centred around a murder mystery musical.

The talent is clearly not lacking so far in this season, so anticipation is extraordinarily high. Unfortunately, Only Murders in the Building season four is yet to be given a release date, but one can only assume when it does, it will be as well received as the rest of the show has been so far.
