A planned crossover between the Hitman game franchise and recent sci-fi action title MindsEye has been delayed from its intended July launch, with no new release window set.
The crossover was to take the form of a new mission in MindsEye, and would have been a collaboration between the game’s developers, Build A Rocket Boy and the developers of the Hitman games, IO Interactive, who also published MindsEye.
The delay was announced by Build A Rocket Boy on Reddit and the MindsEye news page, along with the announcements of two new updates to the game coming in August and September that will add the ability to skip cutscenes and “continued performance and gameplay improvements”.
The delay announcement also mentions that “updates may be less frequent, but with the aim for each to bring more meaningful changes” following the release of three critical hotfixes and patches after the game’s rough launch.
MindsEye launched on June 13 with a wide variety of technical issues reported by players. Despite strong sales, Build A Rocket Boy began a second round of layoffs within the studio just weeks after the game’s launch. The Switch 2 port of Hitman: World of Assassination also launched in June, with critics and players reporting performance problems as well.
No new release window for the crossover mission has been announced; however, the post announcing the delay mentions that updates on its status will be provided to players when available. MindsEye is available to purchase now for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S Consoles, as well as on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
