Track Review: Lady Lady // Olivia Dean

“There’s something in the air” and it’s the feeling of possibility created in Olivia Deans new single ‘Lady Lady’.

Her new single feels sun kissed and orange. It touches on how growing out of old ways is still growth, and often leads to the greater good seen in the lyrics “growing on growing into it, and it’s all going on.” Her stacked vocals in the chorus of the song grounds her sound. This repsonds to her message of alignment perfectly. The live instrumentation is reminiscent of neo-soul and it brings a comfort to this concept of a “master plan.”

The ‘Lady Lady’ that Dean sings of, could refer to mother nature or simply her higher self, that guides her along the path of life that “keeps on changing [her] without a word.”

Alongside the lyrics of “growing on growing into it.” Dean’s soft and sweet vocals have a sense of growth and release embodying this synchronised ease of trust. Olivia Dean flows with the knowledge that there is a goodness brewing, a lightness she is able to capture in her music.
