Track Review: Tyla // Bliss

After teasing this very single at one of music’s biggest live spectacles, Coachella, Tyla has officially released the self-explanatory song for all, it’s pure ‘Bliss’.

Starting off strong with breakout single ‘Water’ in 2023, following up with ‘PUSH 2 START’ in 2024 and now kicking off the South African superstar’s sophomore era ‘Bliss’ in 2025, this “popiano” pioneer has become the unofficial-official flag bearer for creating summer smash hits.

A soft synth loop starts the track and doesn’t leave our side, much like the crashing of waves at a beach. Tyla remains a constant too and pairs her sea-salt fused vocals to the instrumental confessing, “I don’t wanna be in a world without you”.

The line “Let my smile bring you peace of mind” is met with some exceptional drum beats that are consistent throughout the track and much appreciated. The soundscape of ‘Bliss’  is expertly-crafted and keeps the island motif running strong for the duration of the track.

The widely recognisable refrain “Can you blow my mind?”, taken from the star’s massive banger ‘Water’ is swapped for a bolder and firm statement of, “Take me out my mind” but both these earworms still welcome Tyla’s airy-candyfloss-like vocals.

Production comes from three of the 21st century’s finest, NOVA WAV(Beyoncé, Ariana Grande), Sir Nolan (Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato) and finally Sir Dylan tried and trusted by some of Tyla’s cross-continental peers: Rosalía, Rosé and Kali Uchis.

If you’re fed up with scrolling past videos of people inquiring, “Did I just write the song of the summer?”, fear not because Tyla doesn’t ask this question, she just does it. Not once but three times.
