‘Livin in 2021’ is the brand-new single from Maddie Glass and it is exactly what we need in the gloom of 2021. This song is one hell of a rollercoaster you hope never to end.

Maddie grew up in and around New York and started the life of showbusiness at an early age, acting in off-Broadway productions, and soon fell in love with the craft. After attending NYU Tisch, Maddie began songwriting and she never looked back. She typically writes witty and candid lyrics that are just so catchy and honest, and all of this is thrown under a 2000’s throwback sound.

‘Livin in 2021’ is drenched in 2000’s nostalgia, sounding like a throwback to Avril Lavigne with the heavily distorted guitars and the defiant vocals. However, it is not a rip off in any way, as it is a seriously personal and honest song tackling subjects like body image, eating disorders and anxiety, all of which Maddie has struggled with. The jagged pop punk rhythms drive this song home whilst the gritty guitars provide a little more of a raw sound.

The track also talks about how a lot of young woman don’t feel safe alone at night, which is something else Maddie has felt. She’s so honest in her music, as she’s not afraid to say what she wants, and sing about whatever she wants – which is always a pleasure to see.

‘Livin in 2021’ is a badass nostalgic throwback song that only makes you happy to be living in 2021 so you can experience this brilliant track. Female empowerment has never sounded this good.
